Vespel SP-1 Rods & Plaque
DuPont Vespel® polyimide shapes (Sheets, Rods, Tubes, Parts) are produced from advanced polymers developed by DuPont. Vespel® polyimide combines High-Temperature Performance, Natural Lubricity, Dimensional Stability, Chemical Resistance, Creep Resistance, and more.

Vespel® does not outgas or melt at any temperature & performs well in vacuum applications, even in extremely low cryogenic temperatures.

Vespel® polyimide is available in five standard grades:

Vespel® SP-1 - Unfilled. Maximum strength & elongation. Lowest modulus & thermal conductivity. Optimum electrical properties.
Vespel® SP-21 - 15% graphite (by weight). Enhances inherent wear resistance, improves long term thermal stability.
Vespel® SP-22 - 40% graphite (by weight). Gives low coefficient of thermal expansion. Maximum creep resistance.
Vespel® SP-211 - 15% graphite and 10% TEFLON® fluorocarbon resin (by weight). Lowest static friction.
Vespel® SP-3 - 15% MoS2 (by weight). Best wear performance in dry environments.

Fluorosint® HPV Wear Resistant, FDA-Compliant PTFE Bearing Material

Fluorosint® HPV PTFE - Most Wear Resistant Fluorosint Grade - Outlasts Low-Tech PTFE Based Materials.

Quadrant's FDA-compliant Fluorosint HPV is a mica-filled high-performance bearing grade that can deliver a pressure velocity (PV) performance improvement of more than 40 per cent over other PTFE materials according to in-house tests conducted by Quadrant. Parts made of Fluorosint HPV can withstand higher loads and velocities while delivering better wear resistance, enabling the part to last longer compared to existing FDA-compliant PTFE-based materials. The product was specially developed to meet the demands of high-performance bearing applications where other, low-technology PTFE formulations would exhibit premature wear or not perform adequately. These characteristics, together with FDA compliance for food and pharmaceutical applications, open up interesting new options for engineers and manufacturers. Simply put, parts machined from Fluorosint HPV last longer than those made from many of the alternative filled PTFE materials on the market today. Fluorosint HPV can replace bronze, steel and powdered metal parts and deliver performance gains in wear life and system performance. Typical applications include thrust washers, wear guides, seals and food processing and preparation equipment.

FDA compliant Fluorosint HPV PTFE is a high performance bearing grade of Fluorosint - optimized for high PV and very low "K" or wear factor. Fluorosint HPV PTFE was developed for bearing applications where other, low-tech PTFE formulations exhibit premature wear or simply cannot perform. FDA compliance gives food and pharmaceutical equipment manufacturers new design options and all benefit from its excellent load bearing and wear characteristics.
Features of Fluorosint® HPV PTFE:
  • Most Wear Resistant Fluorosint Grade - Outlasts Low-tech PTFE Based Materials

  • FDA compliant

  • Optimized for high PV and very low "K" or wear factor.

  • Developed for bearing applications where other low-tech PTFE formulations exhibit premature wear.

  • Typical applications include thrust washers, wear guides, seals and food processing and preparation equipment.

Meldin Replacing Vespel in Semicon Applications

    Meldin® 7001 Polyimide Replacing Vespel® SP-1 in Semiconductor Applications

Meldin® 7001 polyimide is replacing Vespel® SP-1 in an expanding number of semiconductor applications including Wafer Processing, Handling and IC Testing components. Meldin provides a combination of high-performance properties and superior economical performance.

Meldin® 7001 is ideal for electrical and thermal insulating applications. In Semiconductor Wafer Processing applications, the plasma etch rate of Meldin® 7001 is lower than Vespel® SP-1 providing superior performance over time. In IC Test Sockets & Probe Test Heads, Meldin® 7001 has replaced more expensive Vespel® SP-1 while meeting the same performance standards for precision micro-drilling and long-term stability.

Meldin® 7001 products feature operational temperatures of 500ºF (260ºF) for continuous operation and 900ºF for intermittent exposure, and tight tolerances of ±0.001 in. on both ODs and IDs. Meldin 7001 is suitable for high-temperature structural, high-purity semiconductor components.
